for a bit of history: the gun was in a quake1 mod. no way near as pretty or verbose, however. the physics engine is vital really.

Just been reading up on it, the game was written by 7 students who got employed after making a final year project that had pretty much the same portal premise. So should have done that for my final year project!

The game was Narbacular Drop and the students were at a college close to Valve’s HQ on a game design course which has had ties with the Half Life makers in the past, so it’s not entirely a coincidence they ended up working for them.
